  • She was born in 1975 in Zemun.
    Prof. Dr. Violeta Cvetkovska, theorist of visual culture, painter, mosaicist, icon painter, restorer.
    She is an associate professor at the Faculty of Culture and Media in Belgrade.
    She has been a member of ULUPUDS since 2012. From 1997 to 2021, she had 90 solo exhibitions in numerous cities in Serbia and the region, as well as in Germany and America (Washington, Philadelphia, New York).
    Since 1995, she has exhibited in galleries around the world as part of numerous group exhibitions.
    She participated in art colonies in Serbia and abroad.
    She has won several awards in the field of icon painting, portraits and mosaics.
    She participated in painting several churches in Serbia.
    She participated for several years in the restoration of ancient mosaics (locality Skelani, Republika Srpska) and medieval frescoes (Zaum, Ohrid) and frescoes from the 19th century (Church of St. George, Struga).
    In addition to artistic creation and pedagogical work, she researches visual culture and translates books from the field of icon painting from English.
    She has lectured on the subject of symbolism in the visual arts at colleges in a number of countries.
    She has published over 100 scientific papers in domestic and foreign journals on the topic of symbolism and visual communication.
    As one of 38 lecturers from around the world, she gave a lecture at the Vatican in 2010 on the theme of the play of the Virgin in the indoor garden (hortus conclusus.
    She lives and works in Belgrade.
