Stjepan Stolnik was born in 1931 in the hamlet of Stolnici near Donja Voća, not far from Varaždin, where he lived and worked.
His older brother Slavko introduced him to the technique of painting on glass in 1955, and he has been on the art scene ever since.
Art critics praised his artistic contribution, emphasizing that he was a naive painter of inner light who painted scenes from his life and the life of his surroundings.
Stjepan Stolnik was a master of night motifs and mass scenes, in which each person had his own character and personality.
He has received world recognition for his work, the Gold Medal for Original Art in New York, and numerous domestic awards.
