He was born in 1938 in the Bosnian Krajina in the village of Zdena near Sanski Most.
He was the most prominent representative of naive painting in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Mandic paints the landscapes, life and customs of the Bosnian Krajina with strong colors.
In recent years, as a refugee in Vojvodina, in Feketić he has faced the problem of existence, Mandić paints when the possibilities allow it.
Encouraged by the horrors of the war he survived, he paints pictures of the people and events that marked that unfortunate time.
Instead of the former idyllic paintings, gloom and condemnation are poured on his canvases.
He has exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibitions.
